Following the Prime Minister’s COVID-19 guidance, we are pleased to advise a phased reopening of the business from 9am Monday 18th May.

As a business, Percy Doughty is taking the spread of Coronavirus (Covid-19) extremely seriously. Our priority remains the safety and well being of our employees, suppliers and customers. We know this is a challenging time for many in our industry and we have carefully considered how to reopen in a responsible way.

Our sales department will open from 9am. Please be patient with us if you have to wait a little longer as we will be operating with a skeleton team.

Our Trade Counters at both Farnworth and Scotland will be open for collections. Where possible we are asking customers to order ahead of visiting so that waiting times can be reduced. We are permitting one customer at a time in the trade counters and we are requesting customers to load their own vehicles wherever possible. We are taking the temporary measure of using courier services for deliveries rather than via our own vehicles until further notice.

We have been working meticulously to safeguard our employees. We have already implemented several actions in line with government guidelines, especially on social distancing.


Our key actions include:

•We have implemented social distancing protocols within our warehouse and offices
•Installing additional hand sanitiser dispensers
• We have introduced protective measures such as enhanced cleaning schedules and employee hygiene in our offices and warehouse
• Requiring office and administrative staff to work from home who are able to do so
• Placing signage to remind employees and customers of proper preventative measures
• Requesting employees to self-quarantine for 14 days if COVID-19 symptoms are present, they are directly exposed to a confirmed COVID-19 case, or if a test shows positive results
• We have a clear procedure for where there is a potential case for COVID-19 at any of our facilities and how our management at the site should respond via our risk guidelines
• We have suspended all non-essential visits from suppliers and only staff will be permitted to enter our facilities.

Information for Suppliers

Suppliers are instructed to cease visits to our premises and non-essential meetings with any employees until further notice. Business matters are to be maintained via telephone, email or online.

A mandatory glove & mask policy will be in place and are to be worn at all times when loading and unloading from delivery vehicles. It is important that anyone delivering goods to any location, must wear gloves/masks and stay at the recommended distance
